Ansiedad ante la cirugía en pacientes oncológicos: Revisión de su evaluación, factores de riesgo e intervención psicológica.

Abstract
una o más cirugías con fines diagnósticos, curativos, preventivos o de paliación. Sin embargo, el procedimiento quirúrgico se ha asociado
al desarrollo de reacciones emocionales, como la ansiedad. La presente revisión de literatura reporta la prevalencia de ansiedad asociada a una
cirugía, los factores de riesgo para desarrollarla, su impacto en la evolución del paciente, algunas escalas disponibles para su evaluación y la eficacia
de algunas intervenciones psicológicas para el manejo de dicha sintomatología. Se ha documentado que el 9% de los pacientes oncológicos
que serán sometidos a una cirugía presentarán ansiedad por el proceso, la cual puede ser evaluada mediante instrumentos especializados para
dichos fines. La incidencia e intensidad de la ansiedad asociada a la cirugía está moderada por factores propios de la cirugía como su extensión, objetivo, consecuencias; y, por factores individuales como antecedentes psicológicos y apoyo social. La ansiedad relacionada con la cirugía se asocia con dificultades en la recuperación al procedimiento quirúrgico, por lo que se recomienda el abordaje psicológico mediante intervenciones breves al momento de la anestesia o cirugía que han mostrado mayor efectividad en el control inmediato y a corto plazo de la sintomatología. De esta forma la atención del paciente oncológico es un compromiso multidisciplinario en el que la evaluación y abordaje psicológico en momentos clave, como someterlo a un procedimiento quirúrgico, impacta directamente en su evolución, bienestar y calidad de vida. © 2017 Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Asociación Mexicana de Comportamiento y Salud.
