Abstract

Among the primary objectives of scientific communities in different countries is the training of future academics who will carry out the task of advancing the frontiers of knowledge of our civilization. This is a process whose extension has been growing in length in the last decades as a consequence of a wide spectrum of factors that go from the increasing specialization of the tasks associated with the acquisition of knowledge to the manifest economic feasibility of the final stages of this formative process. Postdoctoral fellowships should be the prelude to the autonomous life of a scientific researcher. That first independent flight in the spaces of knowledge. However, the mantra of “publish or perish”, that as ubiquitous Damocles sword hangs over a good part of the research groups has turned them into key pieces of the knowledge production procedure due to their high levels of academic training and their (often) meager wages.
