Abstract

This article describes the results of the research work called "The neighborhood committee, experience to form the new figures of social representation in the federal district: nature, development and redefinition". Said research was conducted in seven colonies of the western part of the delegation Alvaro Obregon. For the fieldwork two instruments were developed. The research ponders citizen representation and local representation specifically as mechanisms that strengthen civil society and establish conditions and space for greater inclusion in decision making on population activities and issues concerning them, and they are crucial in people's life and development; therefore, it points out the necessity of generating a larger political power from reforms on the legal frameworks as well as on the local representation figure. This work is also linked to the necessity of generating public construction process with emphasis on an imaginary dimension which sets the standard for the reconfiguration of visions, practices and expectations horizons operating as activators for a more inclusive and empowered citizen participation with a high commitment with its environment, its local area and with society.
