Abstract

This article presents a series of reflections arisen within the framework of the research project "The models in Social Work and their implication in professional intervention". On the one hand, we introduce a bibliographic review focused on the knowledge of several authors' perspective regarding the Social Work models and, at the same time, a descriptive study of the qualitative type, from two case studies within the urban zone of Buenos Aires. Their final objective is to perform a description and analysis of the usage of models in professional intervention as well as their theoretical methodological and ethical-political implications. This time, we will refer to the concept of model and its use in Social Sciences; later on, we will focus on the development of intervention models in Social Work in accordance with different authors. We present some reflections relative to the complex stage where the intervention is developed and the challenges that the Social Workers professional performance face when working within an institution. As a supposition, we pose that this performance is a process of decision making, similar in the field of research as well as in the field of professional practice.
