Fragility and weakness of the discourse in Social Work: Absence of construction from social intervention
Main Article Content
Abstract
In the literature of Social Work, social intervention has been defined depending on the epistemological and theoretical position adopted; thus, the absence and lack of clarity in its processes of knowledge construction, weak structures and theoretical basis, as well as the constant questioning about its practice (presence of the ghost of empiricism, its usefulness, consistency and coverage goals, coherency in the operational structure of their approaches) cause the differences in its definitions limit the production of a solid knowledge basis related to the Social Work intervention given from its very particular perspective, which enable the profession to provide explanatory frameworks and action ways within the various manifestations and expressions of the issues the social matters raise. This article contributes to build a level of analysis that describes various angles and dimensions of issues surrounding the construction of knowledge in Social Work, besides, it provides with a proposal to studying the social intervention as a generic category regarding the explanatory process, the construction of knowledge and the performance of the profession.
