Abstract

This article is aimed to show how migration in Michoacan has been conformed, the Mexican state which displays the highest remittances rates at a national level, and whose emigrants are people with certain educational level, and not only those who work in the field. They have entered American labor scope, carrying on different activities in industrial as well as commercial and services sectors. Also, the author explains how Program 3X1 has been used, after being implemented in Zacatecas: for every dollar an immigrant send to Mexico, federal, state and municipal governments contribute with an equal amount, respectively, to invest it in projects for the benefit of their communities, which has impelled progress in the state of Michoacán.
