Abstract

American authorities’ strong policy towards Mexican population who look for alternative labor chances in that country, has led illegal migrants to take decisions increasingly intricate in order to achieve their goal: get to the United States. Meanwhile, we noted in Vicente Fox (2000 - 2006) administration a limited Mexican state to make concrete proposals, which were really aimed to reach agreements and provide national alternatives to make Mexicans stop considering migration to the United States as their only option. This article points out the problems related to migration that Fox government never solved, as well as the different measures which have been implemented in the United States to contain migrants. Then, it concludes that, besides the problem of migration has not been solved, the ways to achieve this aim have become increasingly dangerous, and also Mexican immigrants’ living conditions (particularly those regarding social policies) have become even more difficult.
