Abstract

The article is an exercise about an experience of testimonial writing on the development of the Critical Th eory in Spain and Latin America. It is a critical text once it raises central questions regarding the contemporary national identities and their abject past.

Author Biography

Eduardo Subirats, New York University

Nació en Barcelona en 1947, estudió en París y Berlín, y ha sido profesor de filosofía, arquitectura, literatura y teoría de la cultura en São Paulo, Caracas, Madrid, México y Princeton. Es autor de más de 40 títulos, entre obras individuales y ediciones colectivas. Sus libros más importantes son: El continente vacío (Madrid: 1993; México: 1994; Cali: 2011), Linterna mágica (Madrid: 1997), Memoria y exilio (Madrid: 2003), La existencia sitiada (México: 2006), Filosofía y tiempo final (Madrid: 2010). Es profesor en la New York University.
