Analysis of covid-19 in Patients with Immunosuppression and Kidney Transplantation in Mexico

Abstract

Objective: to analyze the proportion of covid-19 cases with immunosuppression, in-patient management, and renal transplantation in the country. Methods: descriptive study, it was carried out an analysis of public data bases about covid-19 cases in Mexico until September, the proportion of hospitalized patients with immunosuppression who had a renal transplant, as well as their evolution was analyzed. Results: Cases with covid-19 and immunosuppression were 13,285, 30.8% were attended in a hospital (4,104). The condition of immunosuppression was 4% (166) due to the use of immune-modulators, in renal transplantation, in this group of in-patients; with a mortality rate of 41.5% (69). Conclusions: the mortality rate of in-patients with covid-19 with immunosuppression due to the use of immune-modulators is four times higher when compared to the covid-19 national mortality rate.
