Abstract

In this article, the comparison between mesoamerican and spanish versions of Juan Oso’s folktale is used to show the different symbolic phenomenon that act in the appropriation process of stranger elements by indigenous peoples. At the same time, we are going to show how the original sense of the tale may coexist with the indigenous interpretation in a single version.
