Emotional Design as an Enhancer of Otherness and Identity
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article addresses the possibilities of emotional design as a methodological tool to encourage social integration in public space, grounding the conceptual analysis in experiences of contemporary urban interventions. In order to identify areas of opportunity for emotional design, this article analyzes the concept of social integration and its primary theoretical focuses, congruities and contradictions. This allows us to recognize the emotional character of public space, as well as the connections between emotions and the social dimension through otherness and identity as precursors to social integration.
