Abstract

This short article analyzes several of the most important causes and consequences of the abandonment of the Bretton Woods international financial system by the United States in 1971.  In the forefront of analysis is the changing roles and relationships of the state and transnational capitalism.  It also touches on the recent ecological push, the pandemic, and grim future of society.
