Abstract

We argue that the Coronavirus 19 pandemic and its global response represents a historical watershed that has opened many paths of inquiry.  While we cannot address all of them, in this long paper we analyze what we feel to be the most relevant.  We originally wrote this article for the special number on the pandemic for the International Journal of Political Economy.  Our first draft was much too long, so we greatly shortened if for the special number, and then came back to the original longer draft, and while we took months to correct and improve, we did not update it beyond the information available in October, 2020.
