The fourth industrial revolution and cryptocurrency

Abstract

This article seeks to frame the so called fourth industrial revolution within several analytical frameworks, including that of the social provisioning of money and the Polanyian conception of the three false commodities. It also seeks to frame the debate within its historical context, including that of centuries past, but also the recent evolution of global financial markets and the arrival of Bitcoin.
