The processes of financialization and de-financialization in Europe
Main Article Content
Abstract
The article reviews the adverse effects derived from the existence of financialization processes. The existence of these negative effects raises the need for a process of de-financialization, reducing the excessive size of finances, especially in those in which the size of finances is excessive. The study of the financial balances of the member countries of the European Union since 2008 shows, however, that this process of de-financialization has not occurred in the vast majority of European countries, raising doubts about the possibility of a sustained economic growth and a possible short and medium term outbreak of a new systemic financial crisis.
