Social sciences in the Latin American university

Abstract

This work is inspired by the practice of research in Social Sciences developed in the Institute of Economics of the University of Uruguay between 1968 and 1973. A first limitation of this work is precisely that not all the conclusions drawn admit a necessary generalization on a Latin American scale given the peculiarities of the Uruguayan process that serves both as a framework and as an object of the research carried out. There are, in addition, other obstacles that are opposed to an extrapolation of that experience. Among them, we must mention especially those that concern the differences in the cultural heritage and working conditions on which the research projects were based.
