Abstract

This essay considers the current crisis in the case of the European Union (EU) as an example. Specifically, this essay seeks to briefly set the stage, as a starting point, for what has been the most recent experience lived in Greece and the government of the Radical Left Coalition (Syriza), in order to then analyze the Spanish context, its own crisis, the movements or tides in reaction to the negative impacts of it and its political repercussions, particularly the emergence of a new party, Podemos, in the European elections in 2014. The article then examines the process of creating and shaping Podemos and its pragmatic proposals that it thinks will pull Spain out of the crisis and open up new prospects for the development of its people. Finally, some very brief reflections are offered that leave open a line of study and discussion for the times ahead.
