The Greek crisis, year 6: An update
Main Article Content
Abstract
The Greek economy and society have been among the hardest hit during the long crisis that began in 2007. Those who have benefitted the most have been the most powerful financial interests, which are in general highly concentrated and internationalized. These have been subordinated to government authorities, and they have been cooperating to promote a range of policies that instead of alleviating the difficult situation, have deteriorated it further. In 2014 there may be few positives for the country, but the cost of the crisis will continue to rise, and it will continue to fall on the vast majority of the Greek population.
