The failure of neoliberalism in the world and in the European Union
Main Article Content
Abstract
The economic model followed throughout the world since the 1980s can be characterized as disastrous, not only because the crisis has wreaked havoc since 2007, but also because the processes that led to the current crisis created a strong polarization in many senses. Wealth and income distribution has become highly skewed, while States have strayed ever further from social needs, reducing social spending to the point of jeopardizing the institution of the Welfare State, itself created through many years of workers’ struggles.
