Public Finance and New Banking in Mexico

Abstract
This article presents and challenges the structural reforms and the financial deregulation in Mexico during the eighties and nineties. It details the consequences of these processes in relation to fiscal concerns, to the lack of financing for productive activity and the nascent development of the national internal market, processes which together explain the repercussions of the global crisis on the Mexican economy.
