The global crisis: from mortgages to generalized recession

Abstract

The article situates the real estate crisis as one of the four processes of crisis that the world currently faces. The others are the ecological crisis, the energy crisis and the food crisis. The objective of this article is not to present an broad perspective of these four horsemen of the apocalypses. Rather, the article analyzes the origins of the real estate crisis and situates them in the 1990s in relation to the NASDAQ crisis and later presents a brief chronology of the real estate crisis. The different theoretical hypotheses used to explain the recession and its impacts in the coming months lead to several interesting conclusions.
