Abstract

TICS are frequently employed in education but not as much as a support tool in face to face classrooms. This study reveals results dealing with this premise. It focuses on the correlation between the use of computers and the enthusiasm for teaching in an online context while employing an educational platform. The sample is a group of high school teachers, students in a non degree certificate course on teaching competencies, who use the platform basically for work with documents and for sending homework assignments.

The average age for these subjects was 48 years old.  The sample includes an equal number of men and women. They declare a low level of interest in distance teaching: this fact reveals that they will rarely use a platform in their F2F classes or in a distance learning course. Other data suggest that, in order to increase their enthusiasm for online education, one needs to promote their interest in using TICS in general, although it is also important to consider how deeply rooted traditional teaching methods are in this group.
