https://journals.unam.mx/index.php/murmullos/article/view/88469

In “Richard Rorty: Pragmatism, solidarity, Poetry”, Rorty’s arguments for human life betterment, as well as the claims of the American philosopher facing dualisms that became an obstacle for human solidarity, are highlighted. Reviewing Rorty’s arguments, concepts of contingency, pragmatism, and solidarity offered in the book with the same title are explored. La filosofía y el espejo de la naturaleza, Philosophy and Social Hope and Consecuencias del pragmatismo, also Rorty’s books, are likewise considered in this essay. Finally, It attends the path that conduces Rorty to propose Poetry as an answer for living a solidary life: a different and better answer than essential truth, Rorty holds.
David Ochoa Solis

https://journals.unam.mx/index.php/murmullos/article/view/88596

In this article, an analysis regarding the “Evil Eye” is carried out to justify said belief as not a type of knowledge in daily life (common knowledge) nor as scientific knowledge, but as a belief without objectively sufficient reasons to back it up. The meaning of the “Evil Eye” is narrowed down, and with this in mind, different reasons are offered to remain skeptical about the explanations given by the believers of this so-called curse. Lastly, an outlining of some factors is done in order to allow an understanding regarding why the believers of the “Evil Eye” attribute this condition to the wrong causes, as well as why they are so reluctant to abandon their conviction, even when there are good reasons to support a reasonable doubt regarding its existence.
Fernanda Clavel De Kruyff

https://journals.unam.mx/index.php/murmullos/article/view/88598

Fostering within a society the development of a democratic political culture remains a starting point for the construction, solidification, and exercise of democracy, since from the knowledge of what values are, the beliefs, behaviors, and convictions of citizens belonging to a community, we can better understand the relations between individuals, the relations between various social groups, the exercise of power, the internal organization of society, the development and function of institutions, the conception about obedience, the civil resistance, that is, the political life in general of any society.
Viviana Paéz Ochoa
