Differences between the Spanish and Portuguese Geopolitics at the Encounter with the New World

Abstract
The goal of this paper is to set up some characteristics of both the Spanish and the Lusitanian empires during their colonization process in the New World. Also, the issues underlined could allow us to identify some prominent aspects of the great regional empires, such as the Aztec, the Inca, but also a third and very important in the continent, but little studied from the geopolitical approach, the Chibcha, located in the present territories of Colombia and Venezuela. Also, it is an analysis that allows to elucidate the geopolitical criteria implemented both by Spanish and Lusitanian in the space conquest of Brazil, whose territorial evolution over the colonized period resulted in an impressive country in the heartland in South America.
