Transculturation and Spatiality of Capital. On Cuban Counterpoint: Tobacco and Sugar

Abstract
Th is paper is an approache to the way in which spatiality of capital is built and deployed on Fernando Ortiz’s essay Cuban Counterpoint: Tobacco and Sugar . Above all, It explores how the transition of a non-capitalist economy to a capitalist one had eff ects on the way that Ortiz thought transculturation. Thus, we make up some relations between the transculturation process and its economic, cultural and social aspects. Besides, we mention the importance of the term coined by Ortiz for current debates about identity in Latin America.
