Abstract

Probably no other writer, at least during the first three decades of the twentieth century, has received so much homage as Gabriela Mistral in her short stay in Central-America during September 1931. The Costa-Rican researcher Mario Oliva tells us in this article about her visits to schools and colleges. Mistral also gave interviews, presented lectures, read poetry and attended various parties where hundreds of professors, students, intellectuals, and the general public assembled to listen to her. In 1945, the Chilean poet received the Nobel Prize in Literature.
